Holiday food and toy drive round-up

The holidays are fast-approaching, but there's still time to give to those less fortunate.

We'll be keeping a running list of all the food, toy and clothing drives in the area (you can send details to us via our contact page). The Archbishop Ryan pet food drive is over, but many others are still going.

The Lawncrest Community Association, PhillyRising and the office of Councilwoman Marian Tasco are hosting the Lawncrest Holiday food drive. Canned and dried food goods will be collected at the Lawncrest Library [map] and the Lawncrest Recreation Center [map] until Dec. 31.

“The collected items will then be turned over to the Lawncrest branch of the Salvation Army to be distributed to the seniors within the Lawncrest community,” Citron said.

Pa. Sen. Christine Tartaglione is also hosting a drive this year. Her offices in Norris Square and Frankford [map] will collect for the Toys for Tots program through Dec. 17. New, unwrapped toys can be dropped off between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.

Pa. Rep. Brendan Boyle will collect new toys at his offices in Somerton [map] and Burholme [map] during regular hours through Dec. 20. Toys can be dropped off between 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.

Pa. Rep. Kevin Boyle is collecting cans of unexpired food and non-perishable food to be distributed to local food banks. Donations can be dropped off at his Mayfair [map] or Fox Chase [map] offices during regular business hours.
