PARK(ing) Day Philadelphia, held annually on the third Friday of September, provides an opportunity to explore how public spaces could be better designed to serve us all. Parking spaces on the street are transformed for the day by volunteer groups into mini "parklets" the size of a car. These parklets allow us to better understand how much space in a city is given over to autmobiles and invite you to engage with cleverly designed, temporary public spaces. Wander Philadelphia's streets from 10am-4pm to discover the parklets - where you can make something, learn something, or just relax!

PARK(ing) Day challenges us all to consider whether we are making the best use of our limited urban spaces.

PARK(ing) Day After-Party
Be sure to join us after PARK(ing) Day from 5:30-7:30pm at the Center for Architecture and Design to celebrate the creative teams behind the day's innovative parklets, find out who wins this year's coveted Golden Cone Awards, and to learn about local "tactical urbanism" (speaker to be announced soon)! $5 tickets include unlimited beer, food, and music.

PARK(ing) Day Philadelphia is presented by the Center for Architecture and Design in partnership with the Philadelphia Parking Authority, AIA Philadelphia, the Community Design Collaborative, + the Charter High School for Architecture + Design.

PARK(ing) Day was founded in 2005 by Rebar Group, a San-Francisco-based architecture and design firm, and was first presented in Philadelphia in 2008.
