Info Needed for West Phila. Rec Upgrades

    • phpegcmkk

The Philadelphia Water Department is presenting information about plans for the construction of significant green stormwater systems in the Kingsessing area and needs information and input from community members. Representatives will speak at The Common Place.

Residents will learn about significant green stormwater improvements, including those coming to the Francis J Myers Recreation Center and Kingsessing Recreation Center + surrounding areas. Rec center users are strongly encouraged to provide input about these projects.

This is a rain-or-shine event.

Why we are doing construction:

These improvements are a part of the nationally recognized Green City, Clean Waters program, which is improving the health and quality of our rivers and streams. Specially designed green tools, built directly into our neighborhoods, filter and store runoff from storms in a natural way. This helps keep too much water from quickly rushing into an aging sewer system, one that is often overwhelmed in wet weather.

These live, green tools often use plants and trees and allow stormwater (rain or melting snow) to soak into the ground. Both beautiful and cost-effective, they represent a modern solution for reducing pollution. This approach will result in greener communities and cleaner rivers that everyone can enjoy.
