Come celebrate the legacy of brilliant architect and native son Frank Furness, as the Pennsylvania Historical & Museum Commission unveils a new marker at Furness' birthplace and family home on Pine Street. The event will include a performance by the Orpheus Club, singing a Furness-composed song, "The Rush Lancers" (an playful ode to his fellow Civil War cavalrymen). The event is part of a series of events
planned this year, which marks the hundredth anniversary of Furness' death. Reception to follow. Free

Join neighbors and businesses for an evening out strolling Lancaster Avenue. Festivities will include giveaways at the Green Line Cafe (36th Street), recipe sampling from West Philly Fresh Food Hub, works by ceramicist Arina Ailincai at Art on the Avenue (38th Street), and sidewalk sales along the Avenue.
