“The street is a room of agreement,” wrote famed Philadelphia architect Lou Kahn. Streets are shared spaces that create a network for multi-modal travel: driving, walking, biking, and transit riding. In addition to the cartway which facilitates vehicular travel, streets must also support pedestrian infrastructure, transit stops, plantings, and public spaces.
